The North Webster Lions Club was chartered in July of 1945 by Lion International. For the last 76 years we have been a strong supporter of the North Webster Community. We have kept the Mermaid Festival going ever since we started our Charter with Lions International. The Mermaid Festival is more than a town fair, it is a community gathering for what used to be 10 days and now 4 days. We also have supported Scouting in North Webster by chartering Boy Scout Troop 726 in 1949 and then Cub Scout Pack 3726 in 1951. We have the longest Cub Scout charter relations in Kosciusko County.
In addition to Scouting, we have supports other youth programs like the North Webster Little League, kids sight screening, Community Christmas project, College Scholarships, Dictionaries to 3rd Grade Students, to name a few.
Lions International has an emphasis on vision. As part of that mission, we collect used eye glasses that are cleaned and categorized and then taken with Lions teams around the world to fit people in poor countries with glasses. We also take care of getting glasses in the hands of kids that go to North Webster Elementary that can't afford them.
In 2014, we had the ladies from the old Lioness program join our ranks to fall under the Lions International umbrella. We are pleased to have these ladies as part of club to join with them for the great projects they do in addition to what our Club has been doing.
